Career opportunities

Head of MarCom and Community

Job description

BootstrapLabs is the first VC firm to build a focused investment strategy to invest in AI-first companies since 2015, and today the AI opportunity is bigger and more exciting than ever.

We see a large opportunity to address large and important opportunities by applying Artificial Intelligence and we both invest and empower entrepreneurs to build companies to do so.

Through our Venture Capital funds, Venture Studios, and growth-stage investment models we are investing in Artificial Intelligence applied to The Future of Work (FoW)/Productivity, Mobility, Health, Finance, Cybersecurity, and Energy/Climate.

Venture Capital acts as an engine for economic growth (0.2% of the US economy – but drives 27 % of job & GDP growth) and we believe the Venture Capital industry itself will see more innovation and transformation in the next 10 years than we have seen since the inception of this industry.

15 years ago the Venture Capital industry was “the man behind the curtain” – today marketing is an essential part of any Venture Capital endeavor – BootstrapLabs’ approach has been to build a community model to drive access to deal flow, talent and commercial opportunities for its investment thesis.

Today BootstrapLabs has built one of the largest communities in the Artificial Intelligence space, and we source over 1,000+ qualified investment opportunities every year, reach 40,000+ people and arrange one of the leading conferences with-in Artificial Intelligence.

Combined with our top quartile VC funds, BootstrapLabs is in position of being the leading Venture Capital firm in the AI space.

We are looking to grow our model to the next level – and believe that with today’s digital platforms and media landscape – every organization needs to be a “mini media” company.

To lead this effort we are looking for a Head of MarCom and Community that has a background in the media industry and the digital marketing landscape, preferably with experience including TV and fast paced production environments such as News outlets. Additionally, online media experience, including Social Media platforms such as YouTube, Video Blogging, Podcast formats  will provide a great background for this role.

We are highly organized using data and technology driven models and have a proprietary community platform that we continually evolve to support our engagement strategy. In this role, you will be involved in shaping how that community platform grows to support the larger ecosystem around BootstrapLabs.

Qualifications

  1. Preferred TV/Media/Video production experience
  2. Knowledge and experience of Videoblogging, Youtube, and similar production models.
  3. Experience in managing Public Relations with the press.
  4. Experience in Marketing of Events and Brands
  5. Experience in managing and running events (executive responsibility)
  6. Proficiency in English (“Editor in Chief” responsibility).
  7. Location: San Francisco Bay area (will consider remote).
  8. Strong interest in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Technology, Impact and Venture Capital.
  9. Comfortable leading and growing our Marcom team.

We are committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.

About BootstrapLabs

Founded in 2008, BootstrapLabs is a leading Venture Capital firm based in Silicon Valley and focused on Applied Artificial Intelligence. BootstrapLabs invests in visionary founders that solve today’s most important and valuable opportunities by applying Artificial Intelligence, and with our 2 first Applied AI funds fully invested and performing at top quartile of US VC funds, today we are today actively investing from our 3rd Applied AI ($115M) seed fund.

BootstrapLabs is often the first institutional money and acts as a lead investor in the early stages, with follow-on capital at the growth stages.

Artificial Intelligence is impacting every single sector and we are particularly excited about Transportation, Logistics, Energy, the Future of Work (FoW), Cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), Health, and FinTech.

As entrepreneurs ourselves, we know it takes an exceptional team amplified by a nurturing community to build successful companies, so we stand by our founders in good times and bad times, because the road to success is paved with setbacks, challenges, and lessons learned from past failures – and building something big is hard.

Ultimately we believe technology should always be used to create a positive impact on society, and that founders should always place fellow humans at the heart of their vision.
